Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about AppSteward.

Is AppSteward a legitimate, trustworthy app?

Yes. AppSteward is available exclusively through the Mac App Store. It is not distributed through any other channel, and there is no separate installer or download to worry about.

Every version of AppSteward is reviewed and approved by Apple before it can be published. Apple's review process checks that apps meet their guidelines for safety, privacy, and behaviour. If an update does not pass review, it does not reach you.

Being on the Mac App Store also means AppSteward runs in Apple's sandbox. The app can only access files and resources it has been explicitly granted permission to — it cannot reach outside that boundary. The folder access AppSteward requests during setup is how macOS enforces this: you grant it, and you can see exactly what you are granting.

Subscriptions and payments are managed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. AppSteward never sees your payment details, and you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time directly from your Mac or iPhone in System Settings or the App Store.

Does AppSteward require a subscription?

Yes. AppSteward is a subscription-based app, available for a small monthly or annual fee. New users get a free 14-day trial — you can cancel at any time before the trial ends and you will not be charged.

The subscription exists because AppSteward relies on a continuously maintained catalogue of apps and their current versions. Keeping that data accurate and up to date takes ongoing work, and the subscription is what makes that sustainable.
